I use this so often, I created a batch file (Delpart.bat) so all I have to do is to type Delpart. Your best recourse is to use Debug command. Toshiba is the only brand manufacturer that does not provide any HD utility to general public. ![]() Does yours have this? I don't recall the key you hold down. Compaq computers usually have a "management partition" that you can boot from when you hold down a key during startup. Doesn't your Compaq QuickRestore recovery CD do this for you? Ordinarily, booting from a recovery CD should create the partitions it needs, deleting any that are in the way. You could boot from that floppy and reformat (high level) the drive. The emergency boot diskette in 3rd party disk tools like Symantec Partition Magic (formerly PowerQuest) would help you here. If you have one, try booting from a Windows 98 diskette, run FDISK, and remove the partition(s) on the drive. What makes you think you need to do a low-level format? I would think a high-level format (Disk Management in a running XP system) would be all you need to do to get rid of the effects of a virus. ![]()
